New Therapy Exposes
Our Self-Defeating Issues
Peter Michaelson, author and psychotherapist, offers a new approach to health and well-being that is powerful and effective. His in-depth psychotherapy gets to the heart of emotional and behavioral problems, Michaelson says. It exposes hidden elements that can persist in our psyche, particularly the manner in which we unconsciously hold on to our unresolved, self-defeating tendencies. Deep in our psyche, he says, we’re more invested in our negativity and our limited sense of self than we realize. He says his therapy penetrates past our defenses and exposes our unconscious willingness to stay stuck and to suffer with our old issues and our familiar sense of self. “My therapy,” Michaelson says, “exposes an alternate reality within us that’s emotionally invested in maintaining our diminished sense of self, no matter how much suffering that causes us. Getting new insight into our entanglements in deprivation, helplessness, disappointment, rejection, shame, guilt, and criticism can quickly move us forward. It’s tremendously liberating to understand ourselves in this new light.”
Michaelson recently moved to the area from Santa Fe, NM. His office, opened in September with his wife Teresa Garland, an occupational therapist, is called Brain Tune-Ups (www.BrainTune-Ups.com), and is located at 617 E. University, Ste. 215.
